Chris Hodel’s approach combines the core skills and values of traditional Rolfing with FDA approved low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also known as Cold Laser or photobiomodulation, allowing for the increase in cell communication and up-regulating the body’s normal adaptive physiology.
Traditional Rolfing tends to focus on deep tissue pressure that releases fascia, thus allowing your body systems to resume a more ideal posture promoting healing. Rolfing + Cold Laser Therapy combines some manual manipulation with low-level laser therapy to begin healing at the cellular level from the inside out.
When you arrive for a consultation or assessment appointment at 212° Wellness, we begin with understanding your story – how and why you are trying to make a change in your body. We will share with you the theories and applications behind the integrated therapies of Rolfing and cold lasers and provide you with the opportunity to ask questions.
Cold laser therapy, also called photobiomodulation therapy, or the therapeutic application of light to positively affect the body, has been in use since the 1960s. The low-level laser does not emit heat, which is why it’s commonly referred to as being cold.
The 212° Wellness approach treats systems, not symptoms. If you come in with knee pain, we will look at the function of your entire leg within that system of your body, not just the location of your discomfort. Our goal is to get to the source of your issue rather than simply manage your pain.
Many of the common ailments we help relieve include:
In addition to pain-related issues, we have methods for medical concerns such as:
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also called Photobiomodulation Therapy, is the therapeutic application of light to positively affect the body. LLLT stimulates cells in our body, causing an increase in cell communication and up-regulating the body’s normal adaptive physiology. The light energy from the laser works in your cells like photosynthesis does in plants and promotes the body’s natural healing.
Throughout our lifetime, the many cells that make up the human body can endure injury. Cell pathways become interrupted or blocked due to inflammation, trauma or injury, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and other causes. When we target these cells using LLLT, they absorb the light energy and convert it to energy (ATP), which increases the cells’ ability to communicate with each other. This process gives cells an energy boost, improves circulation, and speeds tissue healing.
Low-Level Laser Therapy is ideal for:

The Erchonia® lasers we use provide the only low-level laser therapy that is FDA-cleared to treat conditions such as:
These lasers currently hold 22 FDA clearances.
While the list of systems and conditions we can treat is extensive, we don’t treat everything. That’s why we have trusted healthcare partners in the community who work together as a team to support our clients. For example, you may need hip replacement surgery. Although we cannot provide this service, there are several gifted orthopedic surgeons in Northern Colorado we can refer you to. Allowing us to serve on your healthcare team by adding cold laser therapy to your recovery plan, however, will help you to heal and recovery from surgery faster, so you can get back to living life!
Traditional Rolfing tends to focus on deep tissue pressure that releases fascia, thus allowing your body systems resume a more ideal posture. This promotes healing. Rolfing + Cold Laser Therapy combines some manual manipulation with low-level laser therapy to begin healing at the cellular level from the inside out.
The manipulation of the body’s fascia in Rolfing is sometimes confused with deep tissue massage. Combining specific Rolfing techniques for connective tissue release with low-level laser therapy provides sensations that all our clients have agreed are nothing like massage. Rolfing and massage are two completely different therapies.
For a man, shorts and a t-shirt are fine. If we’re doing upper body work, we may ask you to remove your shirt. For women, shorts and a tank top or sports bra work well. Loose-fitting clothing is not conducive to allowing us to see how strain is traveling through your body. But the most important thing is for you to be comfortable during your session. We will offer you a blanket or sheet if it will make you feel more at ease.
The Erchonia lasers we use are low-level lasers in the red or violet spectrum of light. They emit no heat and cause no damage to your body, which is why they are often referred to as cold lasers. These lasers are different than ones used for surgery. There are no pain, downtime, or side effects from a cold laser therapy treatment.
Our clients love being heard. Because of the time we spend with each of them, our model of healthcare doesn’t fit with traditional insurance. We are happy to submit a claim to your insurance company, but most of our clients find that using their health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts or making interest-free payments through Varidi works well for them.
